Mrs. Carol L. Ashcroft, 71, of 2054 Adams Ave., Tyrone, died at 10:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at the Altoona Regional Health System-Altoona Hospital Campus after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 16, 1934 in Tyrone, a daughter of Clarence L. and Virginia M. (Lane) Hicks.
She was married Dec. 27, 1956 in Tyrone to Joseph D. Ashcroft.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter Marie L. Turiano and her husband Stephen P. of Tyrone, a son Michael D. Ashcroft and his wife Sandra of Tyrone, and a son Mitchell D. Ashcroft and his friend Mark Denny of Forest Park, IL.
She is also survived by four grandchildren: Megan Turiano, Shannon Beckwith, Michael J. and Andrew B. Ashcroft; two sisters: Jane M. Ashcroft and her husband Danny J. of Warriors Mark and Joyce L. Hess of Altoona along with several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ashcroft was preceded in death by a son Mark Ashcroft; son-in-law Jeff Beckwith and two brothers.
She was a member of the Tyrone Wesley United Methodist Church and a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1953.
She enjoyed reading, was a Tyrone Golden Eagle and Penn State football fan, and enjoyed family gatherings.
She retired in 1995 as an accounting clerk from Penn State University after 15 years of service.
Private services were held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone with Rev. Dennis Gable officiating. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery, Snyder Township.
