Yesterday, many area residents made their way to Reservoir Park to enjoy a free musical concert as Silver Creek took the stage for the opening of the 23rd season of free concerts in the park. A popular area country band, Silver Creek, played upbeat, popular country music from today’s hottest hits to those classics that everybody loves. The group also played original songs written by Mark Johnson, the guitarist and songwriter for South West. Other band members are George Isett, Monica Brindle and Dave O’Connell. While the music played on across the stream, a handful of kids enjoyed the parks playground equipment while others cooled off in the water. Summer Sunday concerts begin at 6 p.m. in Tyrone’s Reservoir Park and, in the event of rain, will be held in the Lutheran Church on Logan Avenue and Thirteenth Street. All concerts are made possible by a grant from the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and Tyrone Borough. Concerts are free of charge.
