A step back in time
Visitors at Reservoir Park took a step back in time this weekend during Colonel Crowther Day Weekend events. The upper end of the park was transformed into a Civil War encampment and a variety of demonstrations and living history programs were scheduled throughout the two-day event. Besides walking through camp to see everyday life, guests were invited to view the “incident at Camp Crossman”, a living history recreation of actual documented events that occurred in the fall of 1861. Other events included Union Army Signal Corps demonstrations, artillery demonstrations, period music and a hospital scenario demonstration and lecture to name a few. Graveside honors for sergeant William E. Crowther were also held at Grandview Cemetery in Tyrone while simultaneous honors for Colonel James Crowther at Fredericksburg National Cemetery were conducted by Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Camp No. 4, Irish Brigade, Fredericksburg. Units participating in this weekend’s events included: The Keystone Regiment; 46th PA Regimental Band (The Logan Guard); Mason/Dixon Regiment and Brass Band and other living historians.
