James Allen Walters, 64, of Crescent City, Fl. passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 18, 1943 in Philipsburg to Ellen Grove Walters of Continental Courts, Bellefonte and the late Norman D. Walters.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a 1961 graduate of State College High School. He then served in the PA National Guard from 1961 to 1969. He worked at the Film Lab in State College and later became a guard at the Rockview State Penitentiary retiring in October 1999 after 20 years service. Following retirement he lived in his camper in Farmers Mills, Pa. during the summer and in Florida during the winter.
He enjoyed the Grange Fair. He was a life member of the Logan Grange, PA State Grange and the National Grange. He promoted the Grange in Florida as an active member. He also enjoyed counted cross stitching and plastic canvas.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by four sisters: Thelma Brodzina of Warriors Mark, Janet (Ronald) Houser of Bellefonte, Doris (John) Wilson of Tyrone and Ruth (Dale) Vonada of Spring Mills; two brothers: Daniel Walters of Bellefonte and John (Mary) Walters of Julian and a friend, Connie Smith of Millheim.
Friends will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the St. Johns Union Church in Farmers Mills. A memorial service will follow at the church with the Reverend Nathan Pile officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Shiloh Cemetery.
