On January 29, at or around 7 a.m., officers of the Tyrone Police Department were dispatched to a burglar alarm at 125 E. 10th Street, which is the VFW building.
Upon arrival, responding officers noticed a screwdriver, a black plastic bag and two ten dollar bills on the ground near the back entrance to the VFW. Also found was a metal bracket and piece of door molding from the door. Officers checked the interior of the building to make sure no one was inside. No one was found in the building.
A VFW member had been contacted and arrived on scene. It was determined that the cash register and safe had not been entered. Eighty-nine dollars had been taken from the surface of the bar however. Twenty dollars had been recovered on the ground near the rear entrance door.
At 9 p.m., officers were called to the 1000 block of Bald Eagle Avenue for items recovered that may have been connected to the burglary. These items were confirmed as having been taken from the VFW, indicating that the actor fled in that direction.
The Tyrone Police are asking that anyone with information about this incident or who may have observed any suspicious activity in the area contact the Tyrone Police at 684-1364.
