At the Christ United Methodist Church on Sunday, Korean War veterans were recognized by Rep. Jerry Stern who presented 125 certificates and medals to the honored men and women in the audience who served in the various branches of the military in the early years of the 1950s. Church organist Anna Myers also played the theme songs for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guards as veterans and family members stood for their branch. Nathan Kruis, a junior at Tyrone Area High School, presented “How Can I Honor America’s Veterans?” an essay he wrote for Anderson-Denny Post No. 281, Veterans of Foreign Wars in a recent competition in which he received top honors.
