On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Tyrone BassMasters took to the waters for their final points event of 2007. Heavy fog hampered early morning travel. Fishing improved some as 10 of 11 anglers brought fish to the scales.
Rick Bradford of Bald Eagle, topped all anglers by successfully landing three bass for a total weight of 5.52 pounds. Rick also won the Lunker Award with a 3.40-pound smallmouth bass.
Jim Kaspick of Tyrone, placed second with a two-fish catch, that tipped the scales at 5.10 pounds. Third place was taken by Big Dan Garber of Grazierville, with three fish weighing 3.07 pounds. Randy Rawlings of Mill Creek, placed fourth with two fish weighing 2.36 pounds, after being penalized .13-pounds for landing a dead fish.
The Tyrone BassMasters Club Classic will be fished on Oct. 20-21 at Sayers Lake and at Raystown Lake. This will be a non-point event.
Final standings are determined by the scores of each angler’s top eight tournaments. The final standings for 2007 are as follows:
1. Randy Rawlings of Mill Creek- 211 points
2. Rick Bradford of Bald Eagle- 191 pts.
3. Jim Kaspick of Tyrone – 168 pts.
4. Metz Weko of Water Street – 163 pts. *
5. Ed Henderson of Warriors Mark – 163 pts.
6. Dan Garber of Grazierville – 150 pts.
7. Tom Sanker of Altoona – 139 pts.
8. Bob Fink of Tyrone – 133 pts.
9. Norm Nagl of Altoona – 127 pts.
10. Jay Knight of Boalsburg – 124 pts.
11. Chuck Mattern of Altoona – 118 pts.
12. Rob Johnson of Mt. Holly Springs – 113 pts.
13. Dale Fry of Tyrone – 112 pts.
14. John Dearing of Tyrone – 92 pts.
15. Bill Keough of PA. Furnace – 57 pts.
*All ties at the end of the season are broken by the larger fish caught by the members who tied.
Bill Keough of PA Furnace, also won the Lunker of the Year Award by landing a 5.56-pound largemouth bass at Deer Creek, MD.
