Bill and Judy Jones of Tyrone recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary, and they have also been performing as the gospel singing duo, About Him, for 12 years now.
To make About Him a trio, Bill’s sister, Pat Schell, joined them in April of 2006.
Pat lives in Phoenixville, PA and has to trek 200-miles to Tyrone just so the group can practice together.
“She brings a lot to the group with harmonies,” added Bill.
Pat also works full-time as the secretary at her church. She has two children and four grandchildren.
The group’s latest recording was released in May of 2007, which includes Pat’s vocals. The album is self-titled, “About Him”.
As well as locally, About Him performs as far away as Ohio and northern Maryland.
This Sunday, About Him has scheduled two performances in this area. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., they will be singing a full concert at Osceola Mills Free Methodist Church. Also at 6 p.m., they will be performing a full concert at Rock of Ages Church in Tyrone.
A free will offering will be taken at both services.
“We get booked so early that it’s hard to get booked locally,” said Bill.
He said if anyone in the area is interested in booking them for an event, please contact them at least four months in advance.
“We’d love to do more stuff locally,” he added.
If practicing and performing for About Him doesn’t already keep Bill busy enough, he graduated from Altoona Bible Institute in May of 2007. He will be ordained in the ministry in the near future.
