Theft By Deception
State police reported that an 84-year-old Port Matilda man began receiving telephone calls back on March 8, declaring him the winner of $500,000. One of the conditions for getting the money was for the victim to send various amounts of money to Israel and Jamaica. The victim sent approximately $12,000 to those foreign countries and has not yet received any payment for his alleged winnings. This investigation is continuing.

Traffic Accident
On September 3, state police said that a crash occurred along SR 0453, Birmingham Pike, in Huntingdon County, when Edith M. Newberry, 65, Tyrone was stopped in the southbound lane of travel on SR 0453 and preparing to make a left hand turn onto SR 4012. Another vehicle driven by Wilfred C. Harris, 61, Tyrone did not stop in time to avoid colliding with Newberry while he was traveling south on SR 0453. Harris was cited for following too closely. Neither driver was injured, and both were wearing seat belts. State Police in Huntingdon were assisted at the scene by Tyrone Fire Department crews.

Prowling At Night
State police reported on September 7 that an unknown white male actor was peering in the back porch window of a Baughman Hollow Road residence in Snyder Township. The owner of the home, Mary Reed of Tyrone, scared the actor off.

DUI Crash
On September 8, state police said that a one vehicle crash occurred when Gwen A. Krider, 25, Tyrone was traveling north along Clay Avenue in Snyder Township. Krider fell asleep at the wheel, causing her vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole. She was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. Krider will be charged with DUI.
