A Memorial Day parade will be held this year in Tyrone for the first time since 2003.
The parade is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 11 a.m.
The parade line-up includes various Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, fire companies, honor guard from the Tyrone American Legion and VFW, the Tyrone Armory and the Dover Millionaires to mention a few.
Although organizers got a late start this year, plans for next year’s parade will be on a much larger scale.
Everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy this special event.
The Bellwood-Antis Memorial Day parade is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday. It is sponsored this year by the United Veterans Home Association in Bellwood.
Also, interested individuals can stop by the Tyrone History Museum this weekend. An exhibit featuring military grave markers is currently on display. The markers are from the collection of Richard Searer and includes items from as far back as the Revolutionary War. Searer will also be on hand at the museum on Sunday.
There is also a permanent exhibit featuring various military memorabilia including information on the Sheridan Troop, among other things.
Other exhibits currently on display include the early years of the Tyrone YMCA, from 1914 through the 1930s and continuing the series on Tyrone churches, the museum is displaying material of the Church of the Good Shepherd.
The museum is located in the Tyrone Railroad Station at the Tyrone Rail Park on Pennsylvania Avenue. It is open each Sunday and Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m.
