Tyrone Fire Police headquarters, corner of Burley Avenue and 15th Street, is decked out in a fresh coat of paint compliments of an Eagle Scout project completed by Tyler Poorman. Seventeen-year-old Tyler is a junior at Tyrone Area High School. He became aware of the needy project through his Scout Master Peter Kreckel. Tyler worked with Charlie Givens, Fire Police building and grounds chairman. On the Fourth of July while many young folks were enjoying the holiday, Tyler and Charlie, joined by scout Logan Harper and Aunt Jane Blowers put the first coat of paint on the building. Two days later Tyler left for a two-week scout trip to Alaska with 27 area scouts. While there, he was one of 14 scouts that went to the Yukon. Returning home, he and Charlie, family and friends returned to the site to add another coat of paint, plant flowers and landscape around the building. Tyler is the son of Richard and Peggy Poorman of Tyrone Pike, Bald Eagle. (The Daily Herald/Virgie Werner)
