Mrs. Charlotte Lee Pearce, age 89, of Domenica Circle, Clarion, Pa. died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Clarion Hospital.
She was born October 30, 1917 in Indiana County, the youngest daughter of Hubert and Laura Kooser Lightcap. On April 27, 1942 in Corry she was married to Charles G. Pearce who preceded her in death October 9, 1978.
She is survived by two daughters: Cheri Pearce of Oil City and Laura, wife of Michael Cave, of Tyrone.
Also surviving are five granddaughters: Bridget, wife of Douglas Kennedy of Oil City; Kelin Linnan of Ridgway; Hannah, wife of Jason Stout of State College; Ajia Cave of Albany, NY and Shalah Cave of Farmingdale, Long Island, NY.
Also surviving are six great-grandchildren: Brandon and Shana of Oil City; Macie and Brenna Campbell of Ridgway and Gryffin and Thalia Stout of State College.
She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Janet Pearce and husband Dalvin Bolvin of Elk Grove Village, IL and Peg Lightcap of Pontiac, MI and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, one brother and a granddaughter, Haley Linnan on January 28, 2007.
Mrs. Pearce was a graduate of Marion Center High School. During World War II she was employed in Carlisle making crystals for radios used by the military. After returning to Indiana County, she was a telephone operator. In 1949 the Pearce’s moved to Tyrone where Mrs. Pearce hand tinted portraits for local photographers and also hand lettered diplomas for Tyrone Area High School.
After moving to Clarion in 1958, she hand lettered diplomas for Clarion State Teachers College for several years. She also designed and made dance costumes for Betty Wellington’s School of Dance.
Mrs. Pearce was active in the First Presbyterian Church where she served as deacon and also taught Sunday school and Bible school for more than 50 years.
Her love of art was incorporated into many wall projects to better illustrate the lessons she taught and for gifts given to family and friends over the years.
Funeral service for Charlotte Lee Pearce will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, Clarion with Reverend Kate Filer officiating.
Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville.
Friends will be received at Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street, Clarion today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
