It can be tough for many churches to find ways to reach out to the youth of the community.
However, Tyrone’s Church of the Good Shepherd has earned a successful reputation in this area.
One way they have reached the youth is with the Lenten breakfasts they offer to middle school and high school students in the Tyrone community. These breakfasts have become somewhat of a tradition for many of the students.
Every Wednesday morning during the Lenten season, all youth in grades six through twelve are invited to the church social hall next to Gray-Vets Memorial Field. The breakfasts begin at 7 a.m.
Each breakfast includes delicious home cooking. There is also a short time of reflection led by teens from different church youth groups in the Tyrone community.
If your church youth group would like to lead a reflection time, please contact the church office at 684-2472.
The church has offered these breakfasts for the youth of the Tyrone community for many years and has had a good response.
All students in grades six through twelve are encouraged to come out and participate.
