WM Little League sign-ups
Warriors Mark Little League will be holding sign-ups on Thursday, February 1 and Wednesday, February 7 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Warriors Mark Fire Hall.
Any boy or girl born between May 1, 1994 and April 30, 2002 is eligible to play.
There are registration fees. Players must reside in Warriors Mark Township, Franklin Township, Spruce Creek Township or Snyder Township (Blair County). Warriors Mark Little League is a part of the Tri-County Little League consisting of teams from Port Matilda, Huston Township, Halfmoon Township and Warriors Mark.
The normal season of play lasts from the beginning of April through the end of June. Anyone with questions can contact Jim Dorminy, President at 632-7514.
Collecting donations for CPHS
Cub Scout Pack 320 will be collecting donations of pet food items, litter, and cleaning supplies (detergent, bleach, etc.), as a community service project to benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society from Feb. 1 through Feb. 10. A donation box will be available at Martin\’s Food Store, Bellemeade location during this time. For additional information contact Harry Mogle at 684-4263.
Senior night
The TAHS Basketball Booster Club will be sponsoring \”Senior Nights\” for the Boys and Girls basketball teams. Senior athletes, along with their parents, will be honored for all their hard work and dedication.
Senior Night for the Girls will be held Tuesday, January 30 and Senior Night for the Boys will be held on Friday, February 2. The program for both teams will begin following the junior varsity games at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Buffet dinner
The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church will host a buffet dinner on Friday, February 2 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The dinner will feature meat loaf, turkey broccoli bake, sour cream noodles, candied sweet potatoes, buttered peas, toss salad, rolls and graham cracker pudding. The Warriors Mark Church is handicapped accessible. Anyone with questions can contact the church office at 632-6906.
Faces and Places Ministries casting for spring
production
Faces and Places Ministries recently announced the spring production will be “David, A Man After God\’s Own Heart”.
In May, Faces and Places Ministries will launch this sprawling epic of an ancient time summed up in one man\’s life, King David.
For interested individuals, Faces and Places Ministries will be casting all roles for this production on Sunday, February 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the new building, Faces and Places Ministries Center for the Christian Arts, located at 954 Logan Ave.
Both singing and non-singing roles are available.

Presbyterians To Focus On Faith For Today
At 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2007, Interim Pastor Norman Huff will lead the 82 members of Tyrone Presbyterian Church in a worship service entitled “Focus On Faith For Today”.
Pastor Huff will deliver a message about faith based on the revised lectionary scripture readings.
The Westminster Choir will offer an anthem entitled “My Faith Has Found A Resting Place”.
Today, as the Iraq War continues to darken the horizon, modern Tyrone Presbyterians invite believers to join their worship leader Reverend Huff and church members at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday, February 4, as they give thanks for the faith of their spiritual ancestors, and then focus on strengthening their faith for today.
TYBA registration
Tyrone Youth Baseball Association will hold registration for major and minor league baseball teams on Tuesday, February 6 and Wednesday, February 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bull Pen. Any boy or girl born between May 1, 1994 and April 30, 2002 is eligible to play. Interested individuals must have an original copy of their birth certificate. Anyone who did not return last year’s uniform are asked to bring it to registration.

Allegheny Chorale spring season
Allegheny Chorale is scheduled to started practice for its spring season in the TAHS Chorus Room. Any adults interested in joining, and also tenth through 12th grade students, are invited to attend the practices. The deadline for new members is February 6.
NARFE meeting
Members of Chapter 328, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association met January 12 at noon at King’s Restaurant, 3000 Sixth Avenue, for lunch and a business meeting.
It was decided to once again have the annual August picnic at American Legion Park in Hollidaysburg and the Christmas party at Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
The next meeting will be at noon at King’s on Friday, February 9. All active and retired Federal employees and spouses are welcome.

Chocolate Festival
The Tyrone Church of the Brethren, on the corner of Adams and 18th street, is having a Chocolate Festival from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday February 11 to raise money for Disaster Relief ministries.
Admission is free for those who want to purchase treats to eat in or take out, bid on the Silent Auction for chocolate gift baskets, or shop in the Sweetheart Sweet Shoppe to buy a gift for your sweetie.
Several of the churches bakers and confectioners will be competing in a Chocolate Tasting Competition. To be involved in the tasting and judging of entries a ticket must be purchased for a small fee.
Come help raise money for Disaster Relief efforts and enjoy the fellowship that surrounds this event.

Natural Biodiversity representative to speak to LJRA
Scott Millberg, projects coordinator for the non-profit conservation group, “Natural Biodiversity”, will be presenting to the Little Juniata River Association during their monthly meeting on February 13 at the Tyrone Snyder Public Library in the Community Room at 7 p.m. The Little Juniata River Association is a local non-profit group whose mission is to monitor, preserve and improve the Little “j” as a cold-water resource. The public is welcome to attend.
According to Scott, “Natural Biodiversity” is focused on the control of herbaceous, invasive species, such as Japanese Knotweed, which is known to have established itself along the banks of the Little Juniata and elsewhere in the Juniata Watershed. “Natural Biodiversity” and Southern Alleghenies Conservancy have recently received federal funding from the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service grant program. This project will access the affect of the invasive species presence on the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), Conservation Securities Program (CSP), and stream bank fencing projects. Eventually a planning committee will be formed to develop an invasive species management plan, pinpointing locations and identifying best control practices, beginning with the lands along the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River.
Women’s Day
Emmanuel Baptist Church of Tyrone will be hosting a Women’s Day with the theme, Relationships, on Saturday, February 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This will be a day of fun, fellowship and growth.
There will be a time of worship, a large group session with Julia Wiley as the main speaker, breakout sessions, a skit, lunch and more.
Some of the breakout sessions may include: a craft, finances, parenting, daily quiet times, canning, etc.

2007-08 registration now open
The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church announced 2007-08 registration is now open. The church offers a program for three, four and five-year-olds to attend class three days a week. Classes are held from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Tyrone History Museum closed for winter
The Tyrone History Museum is closed for the winter. The museum will reopen Sunday, April 1, 2007.

Public walking
Public walking at the Tyrone High School has once again started for the winter season. Walkers are invited to walk Monday through Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be no walking when school is not in session. Running is not permitted. Children must be supervised. Rubber-tired strollers only.
Master Beekeeper
Master Beekeeper will make educational and informative presentations to a class or group on honeybees and beekeeping. For more information, call 684-1783.
Singles 45 Plus
Singles 45 Plus meets every third Tuesday of the month. Interested individuals are invited to come for a meal and to socialize. Those attending would be responsible for their dinner, drinks or desserts.
Meetings are held at King’s Restaurant, 6th Avenue and 31st Street.
