The Daily Herald has announced the winner of its annual “First Baby Contest” as Glen Marion, son of Jennifer Fry and Ken Foster.
Glen was born at Nason Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 5:05 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 19 inches long.
The rules of the contest stated that the baby’s family must reside in The Daily Herald circulation area.
Area merchants were pleased to welcome the first baby of 2007 with a bundle of free prizes, including: gift certificate from G&P Dollar Stretcher, $20 gift certificate from Bells Run Country Shop, $25 Visa gift card from American Pride Credit Union, quality choice baby basket from Bellwood Kopp Drug , one year subscription to The Daily Herald, $20 gift certificate from Scents of Life, dinner for two at The Morning Star Family Restaurant and a complete oil change from Premier Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge.
Also, a $10 gift certificate from Mac’s Market, baby’s first haircut from Holly’s House of Style, gift certificate from Simpson Street Fashion Outlet, $10 gift certificate from Tyrone Sheetz, assortment of DelGrosso sauce from DelGrosso Foods, dinner for two at The Bull Pen, $25 gift certificate from LaScalia’s Restaurant and baby’s first vitamin prescription from Tyrone Kopp Drug.
Also, two bags of diapers from Community Pharmacy, $20 gift certificate from Bellwood Sheetz, gift certificate from Monika’s Cards and Gifts, $10 gift certificate from Tea Merchant 101, $20 gift certificate from The Family Chill and Grill, two sundaes for mom and dad and baby’s first birthday cake from The Meadows, $25 gift certificate from Dorman’s Jewelry and a silk arrangement from Engelman Florist and Greenhouses.
Della Bupp of Tyrone won The Herald’s contest of guessing the weight of the first baby. She submitted a guess of 7 pounds, 7 oz. to win a 13-week subscription to The Daily Herald.
