A 64-year-old rural Tyrone man was charged with false swearing and two counts of transfer of ownership regarding dealings that happened at Dan Parson Used Cars in Snyder Township sometime between March 7 and April 4 of this year.
State police said James David Parson was charged after he personally purchased two 1988 Ford Mustangs and resold the vehicles without taking assignment and reassignment of the certificate of title.
Police said Parson, an issuing agent, verified, signed and sealed the certificates of title knowing that the information contained on the certificates were not completely correct and missing the transactions where he purchased and resold the vehicles.
Charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller.

State police are investigating an attempted robbery that happened sometime between March of 2005 and Sept. 22 in Sinking Valley, Tyrone Township.
Police said while the owners of a home in rural Altoona were away, an attempt was made to enter it via the front door. However, the would-be robber was unsuccessful in gaining entry into the home.

A rural Altoona man reported a theft and burglary at his home that happened earlier this month.
State police said Richard Campbell said someone entered his house on Skelp Road and took a bench, a log splitter and a weed eater. The incident happened sometime between Sept. 5 and 6.

A 25-year-old Tyrone man, Joshua John Hayes, was involved in an alleged DUI incident on Sept. 8 at 11:36 p.m. in Logan Township.
Police said Hayes was stopped for traffic violations on Greenwood Road and was found to be under the influence. He was taken into custody and transported to Bons Secours for a blood test and his blood alcohol content was found to be over the limit. Charges were to be filed before a magisterial district judge.
