The cost of workers’ compensation for businesses in Pennsylvania can be reduced as a result of attending a certification program created by the Blair County Chamber of Commerce Safety/Risk Management Committee.
The workshop, to be held October 13, from 7:30 a.m. to noon at The Casino at Lakemont, will qualify attendees for certification of an approved safety committee. A minimum of two employer and two employee safety/risk management committee members from each company must attend to qualify for certification. As a result of this state certification, businesses will then be eligible for a five-percent discount on workers’ compensation premiums.
The workshop will begin with a presentation by Scott G. Weiant, Manager Certification/Education, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, who will speak on Safety Committee Compliance Mandates.
In addition, PennSafe will provide three one-hour presentations that will fulfill all requirements for initial certification.
Cost to attend is $25 for Chamber members and $40 for future members. Cost includes materials and a breakfast buffet. To register, call the Chamber at 943-8151.
