A Port Matilda man has been accused in a retail theft at Rossi’s store in Tipton.
State police said the incident happened on July 7 at 1:44 p.m. when Eric Dasher allegedly drove off without paying for gas. Police said the incident was captured on a video camera. Prosecution is pending according to the police press release.

A Snyder Township man was the victim in a rubbish scattering incident sometime between 4 p.m. on July 8 and 10 p.m. last Saturday.
Police said someone dumped a pile of shingles on the property of James Lego along Thomastown Road during the time period reported.

A 38-year-old Tyrone man, Robert Writner Engle, has been accused of in a DUI-related incident that happened on July 15 at 11:38 p.m. along State Route 865, near North Sixth Street, in Bellwood.
Police said Engle was stopped at the location by police for traffic violations. He failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for DUI. Engle was taken to Bon Secours Hospital for a blood test that showed he was above the legal limit.
Police said in their release last week that charges where to be filed against Engle for DUI and other traffic offenses.

Two drivers escaped injury in a two-vehicle accident on State Route 220, 1.6 miles north of State Route 350, in Snyder Township on July 16 at 10 a.m.
State Police said a vehicle operated by 57-year-old Jeffrey L. Myers of Spring Mills rear-ended a car operated by 47-year-old Shari Zingle of West Bloomfield, MI.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Myers’ vehicle had front-end damage while Zingle’s vehicle had rear-end damage. State Police said Myers would be cited for a traffic violation.

Three people escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident on State Route 1013 in Tyrone Township on July 16 at 1:45 p.m.
Police said 23-year-old Johnathan L. Hammel of Hollidaysburg was driving west on the road. Hammel told police an east bound vehicle partially crossed into his lane and was approaching his vehicle. Hammel swerved to the right and his vehicle hit a tree with its left side off the north berm.
Police said there were two passengers in the car, a 17-year-old girl and 18-year-old Tiffany M. Caswell of Bellwood.

Snappy’s in Bald Eagle was the scene of another pump and run incident on July 18 at 12:59 p.m.
Police said two black men arrived at the store and pumped $34.50 in gas and left without paying for it. Police were able to develop suspects in the case by viewing store surveillance. A recent press release said police were continuing their investigation.

A 28-year-old rural Altoona man had his bike stolen from his residence on Dominy Lane in Antis Township sometime between last Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. and last Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
Police said Preston Harry Kephart II had left his bicycle unsecured on an open front porch at the home for the last two months. An unknown person arrived at the scene during the suspected time frame and took the bike and fled undetected.
The bike was described as a dark blue, 15-speed “mountain style bike” with 26-inch wheels.

A Tyrone man has been accused in a theft case that happened on State Route 4027 in Snyder Township on July 19 at 9:25 p.m.
Police said Jeremy Mountz was caught using a pair of bolt cutters to cut pieces of copper wire from utility poles.

A 30-year-old employee at Green Tree Village was the victim of simple assault at the facility in Bald Eagle, Snyder Township last Friday at 10:05 p.m.
Police said Christopher Lee Hopkins was assaulted by a 16-year-old Tyrone juvenile who was a resident at the facility.
The assault allegedly happened when the teen became upset and did not want to stop an activity he was doing. Hopkins approached the boy and the teen began punching him in the head and face several times. Hopkins was able to take the teen down to the ground and gain control over him.
Charges were to be filed against the boy before Blair County Juvenile Probation.

An Altoona man, Randal Martin, was involved in a one-vehicle accident on State Route 220 in Taylor Township, Centre County on Sunday at 5:40 a.m.
Police said Martin was south on the road when he swerved to avoid a deer. His vehicle traveled off the west side of the road and slid several feet before flipping. The car landed on all four tires and came to rest along the west berm, facing east.
Martin was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. His vehicle had severe damage.
