An 18-year-old Centre County teen, Kevin Maney of Julian, was found safe on Sunday in Sandy Ridge after he went missing on Saturday.
Police said Maney left his grandmother’s residence in the Port Matilda area around 11 a.m. on Saturday to go four wheeling. He told his grandmother he would return in a couple of hours.
When Maney did not return by late Saturday night, State Police at Philipsburg were notified around 10:30 p.m. Family members said it was unusual for Maney to leave for an extended period without telling someone of his whereabouts. The family believed he may have been injured while four wheeling and was unable to get help.
Police said a command post was set up at the Port Matilda Ambulance Station and a ground and air search was initiated. Searchers looked for Maney until about 5 a.m. on Sunday and then resumed the search at noon. Maney was then located, uninjured, at a residence in Sandy Ridge.
Police said a total of 58 people, including private citizens took part in the search.
Philipsburg state police said they were assisted by a state police aviation unit from Montoursville, Port Matilda Fire and Rescue, Port Matilda EMS, Milesburg Fire and Rescue and the Logan Fire Department of Bellefonte.
