The Bellwood-Antis community is invited to DelGrosso’s Amusement Park this Friday to celebrate the 87th annual Bellwood-Antis Community Picnic and 2006 all-class reunion.
A fun-filled day is planned complete with fireworks, a Star Search competition, chicken barbecue, hometown raffle, games and a golf tournament.
Individuals are also asked to share their memories on this special day. Anyone with vintage photos or memorabilia from the early years of Bellwood and Antis Township or DelGrosso’s Amusement Park (Bland’s Park) are asked to bring them to Shed No. 4 on picnic day to share the memories with neighbors and friends.
Also, this year, residents of Bellwood-Antis and alumni will be invited to vote in the Bellwood-Antis Community Picnic logo contest.
Local talent has worked hard, submitting logo designs to the committee. Of those works submitted, four were chosen and will be on display as options for the BACP logo. When receiving the ride and slide bracelets or picking up chicken barbecue tickets, a ballot will also be given, which is good for one vote. So, take the time to vote for a logo and support local artisans.
Once again, all Bellwood-Antis School District students in grades pre-school through 2006 graduates may stop by to get free passes, good for all-day waterworks, rapids and ride passes.
The passes are also available for school age children of graduates who have registered for the all-class reunion. Free ride pass bracelets may be picked up at the red and white tent, next to the main ticket plaza, between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The days activities will begin with the 15th annual Bellwood-Antis Championship Golf Tournament. This event is open to youths grades kindergarten through 12th grade. Categories are K through fifth; sixth through eighth and ninth through 12th grade. Prizes will be awarded. Registration begins at 10 a.m.
At 11:30 a.m. an adult golf tournament will be held. Also, the all-class reunion begins.
Children’s games begin at 2 p.m. and the Bellwood-Antis Lions will host a free bingo from 3 to 6 p.m.
The Farm Show chicken barbecue will begin at 5 p.m. and the 13th annual Bellwood-Antis Star Search, sponsored by First Commonwealth Bank and the Bellwood-Antis Lions Club, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available for the chicken barbecue at Sue Whiteford’s Beauty Salon and Rossi’s Corner Store.
Divisions for the Star Search competition are preschool through fourth grade; fifth through eighth grade; ninth through 12th grade; adults – up to 40-years-old; adults – over 40-years-old and groups of three or more.
Prizes will be awarded for each division. First place winners will receive $100, second place will receive $80, $60 will be given for third place, $40 for fourth place and $20 for fifth place finishers.
The hometown raffle drawing will be held at the conclusion of the Star Search competition. The raffle is a chance to win homemade items from artisans of the Bellwood and Antis Township communities.
Finally, at 10 p.m., everyone can enjoy a fireworks display to end the evening.
