Tyrone Hospital is pleased to announce that Linda Schirmacher, RN has been promoted to the position of nursing supervisor at Tyrone Hospital.
Schirmacher is a seasoned nursing professional with more than 32 years of nursing experience.
As nursing supervisor, Schirmacher’s duties include directing and supervising all licensed nurses and support staff and monitoring their assignments and activities. She will also assist with evaluation of nursing employee job performance. She is also responsible for coordinating nursing services with other hospital departments to assure quality of patient care and will participate in a variety of quality improvement activities. In addition, the nursing supervisor serves as a representative of hospital administration as needed.
Schirmacher is a graduate of the Altoona Area Vocational Technical School and the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. She also completed training in critical care nursing.
She has been employed at Tyrone Hospital for 14 years. During her tenure at Tyrone Hospital, she has worked in many nursing units including the medical surgical unit, intensive care unit and the recovery room. She also served as head nurse on the drug and alcohol treatment unit, a service that was offered at Tyrone Hospital in the past.
Prior to joining Tyrone Hospital, Schirmacher was employed at Altoona Hospital where she worked in a variety of nursing units including the emergency room, intensive care unit and the medical surgical unit.
She currently serves on Tyrone Hospital’s Medication Reconciliation Committee along with a diverse group of other healthcare professionals. For more than 25 years of her nursing career, Schirmacher has also served as a nursing preceptor both at Altoona and Tyrone Hospital, serving as a mentor and teacher to new nursing staff.
