Mrs. Iris L. Nye, 67, of 10 9th Street, Tyrone, PA died Saturday morning, February 25, 2006 at the Tyrone Hospital E.R.
She was born August 21, 1938 in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Benjamin David and Velma (Dixon) Fink.
She was twice married – first to Kirk A. Lathero of Altoona, PA, then to Ronald L. Nye who died July 2, 1991.
She is survived by five children: Kathy McCall (Robert) of Altoona; Marsha White of Tyrone; Kirk A. Lathero (Vickie) of Altoona; Bonnie Neely of Tyrone and Sherri Pellas (Kim) of Altoona.
Step-children: Terry L. Nye and Garry L. Nye of Los Angeles, California. Eight grandchildren. Brother: David E. Fink and sister Barbara K. Watson of RD 3 Tyrone. Her step-father, Paul W. Grove of Tyrone, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by a brother Richard H. Fink Jan. 20, 2006.
She was a graduate of the Altoona Hospital Training Center as a nurses aide. A member of the Pennsylvania State Grange No. 484 in Sinking Valley.
She retired in 1991 from Skills of Central PA, Altoona, as a caregiver to Skills residents Linda O’Conner and Diana Hocking. She previously worked as a cook in the Tyrone Hospital Snack Bar for six years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Ted Zeigler officiating. Interment will be at the Alto Reste Cemetery, Altoona.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 and 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
