The Bellwood-Antis School Board met earlier this week and among the discussion was several matters of personnel.
The board regretfully accepted the resignation of John Hayes as teacher and athletic director, effective the last day of the 2005-06 school year. However, Hayes said he would like to continue serving as head varsity football coach for the Blue Devils.
They also accepted the resignation of Bernie Jubeck as assistant varsity boys basketball coach, effective immediately.
With the retirement of Mary Gunsallus and Judi Binder-Marks, the following positions have been awarded, effective January 30: Linda Myers, middle school breakfast/baker position and Malena Myers, high school breakfast/cook position.
Through the “bumping” process, several positions were filled, including Chris Diehl, breakfast and cook; Jody Adams, breakfast and cook and Laray Mills, cashier, pots and pans and snack.
Melissa Bell, science certification and Thomas Geishauser, health and physical education certification were accepted as substitute teachers.
Softball volunteers were approved, including Melissa Sitman, Allison Stodart, Norm Stapleton for softball. Also, pending receipt of clearances, the board approved Chasey Romani, Kim Harner, Todd Cardamone and Bob Bradly.
Tom Partner was approved as a baseball volunteer.
Marie Enedy was approved as a half time high school special education teacher, effective February 8. Enedy’s employment is subject to IEP requirements and her salary will be prorated for the number of days worked.
Administrators Diane Williams, Tom Otto, Robert Fisher and Terri Harpster were appointed as attendance officers to enforce the provisions of compulsory school attendance.
Job descriptions were approved as presented for technology coordinator, athletic director and coordinator of curriculum, assessment and federal programs. Also, it was approved to change Donald Wagner’s title to Coordinator of Curriculum, Assessment and Federal Programs.
Heather Erickson, Rose Tambellini, Chris Claar, Karen Cooper and Brad Weirich were approved to provide homebound instruction.
The board also approved maternity leave for both Angela Coleman and Susan McCloskey-Nycum, each beginning in April.
