Johnn Molburg, a native of Tyrone, recently took seventh place in the Adult four-dog speed class at the Haliburton Highlands Dogsled Derby sled race on Jan 29, at Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Molburg finished the two-day, 8.5 mile course with a total time of 00:33.24.
The Haliburton Highlands Dogsled Derby sled race was sanctioned by the International Sled Dog Racing Association and counts toward the International Championship Series for Sled Dog Racing.

Molburg received 79.35 points which count towards the International Championship Series.
Molburg travels throughout the United States and Canada to race each year. He sometimes participates in up to 20 races each season.
According to his profile with the International Sled Dog Racing Association, Molburg has been racing sled dogs since 1957. He has received many national and international awards and medals throughout his career.
Earlier in January, Molburg competed in the Adult six-dog Speed class in Kalkaska, MI at Kalkaska Winterfest. Finishing the 13.2 mile course in 00:44:27, his 11th place finish earned 88 points for the season.
Molburg also participated in the Jackman ME Sprint Race No. 1 in Jackman, ME where he finished fifth, earning 35.10 points. He finished the 8.4 mile course in 00:30:07.

The ISDRA was formed in 1966 by Canadian and American mushers to organize and unify the sport of sled dog racing. Today, ISDRA annually represents over 100 days of sled dog racing and thousands of individual race performances. Competitions are held for adult and junior divisions and team sizes range from unlimited to one-dog. Racing action begins in mid-October and ends in late March with multiple ISDRA sanctioned events occurring on any given weekend during January and February. Annual membership averages 850 with 55 to 75 sanctioned events.
