Andrew “Andy” Leroy Steele, 57, of 1352 Penna. Ave., Tyrone, died Wed. morning at the Tyrone Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 1, 1948 in Philipsburg, a son of Lewis Steele and the late Doris E. (Etters) Steele. On Nov. 8, 1969 at the Bald Eagle Methodist Church Parsonage he married Georgia Carol Nearhoof who survives.
In addition to his wife Georgia, he is survived by his father and step-mother Thelma Steele of Birmingham, a son Andrew Steele, Jr. with his daughter Tabatha L. Steele of Tyrone; and son Greg Allen Steele and his wife Loretta J. (Goodrich) Steele and their children Greg A. Steele, Jr. and Colleen Evelyn Steele of Hartsville, Tenn. He is also survived by a sister, Diane of Missouri; brothers Wayne and Gordon of Altoona; Glenn of New Hampshire; half-brother Lewis, Jr. of Altoona and brother-in-law Ralph Nearhoof, Jr.
He loved his grandchildren and was especially happy during their visits. He enjoyed working on cars and helping others when needed. He was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1967; a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Co., the American Legion Post No. 281, and the V.F.W. No. 4559.
A private interment at the convenience of the family will be held at the Bald Eagle Cemetery with Pastor David Ervine officiating.
