The countdown continues as Christmas Eve is only two days away.
With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, buying gifts, preparing meals and visiting family and friends, individuals often forget to take a moment and enjoy the beauty of this festive season.
Many area churches will hold special Christmas eve services Saturday night. And, since Christmas falls on Sunday this year, many churches will also hold Sunday morning services, while a few have chosen to cancel morning worship to allow families more time together.
Anyone wishing to celebrate with others on Christmas Eve, the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church will hold a special service at 6 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a community Christmas gathering.
According to church members, Christmas Eve service promises to be an inspiring time that’s sure to be a highlight of the holiday season. Young, old, traditional, or hip, everyone will enjoy the upbeat music laced with Christmas classics, plus an uplifting message geared to help individuals focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Special music will be provided by Bill and Judy Jones.
Warriors Mark residents will also mark the start of a possible new tradition as the community is invited to the first ever old fashioned country Christmas, to be held following church services, from 7:15 to 9 p.m. in the center of town. This event is sponsored by the Warriors Mark UM Church.
Free horse and carriage rides will be given for those attending the church service.
There will also be Christmas carols and a community Christmas tree. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided for those in attendance.
Weather permitting, the streets of Warriors Mark will be lined with luminaries, a custom started in Mexico many years ago as a symbol of light that would lead the wisemen to baby Jesus’ manger.
Everyone is invited to join the fun. Guests are welcome to attend Christmas Eve service at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church and then join the community for their special Christmas celebration.
The Warriors Mark UMC is handicap accessible. Anyone with questions about the service or Christmas gathering can call the church office at 632-6906.
