The Tyrone Hospital Development Council has announced the results of its fifth annual golf tournament to benefit Tyrone Hospital.
Randy Miles, Sr., chairman of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council, said this year’s tournament was the Council’s best in its five year history.
“This event seems to get bigger and better every year. It is both amazing and touching to see people support the community and Tyrone Hospital in this way.”
Miles said the net funds raised via the tournament were $17,300.
“All of this happens because of the hard work and dedication of the Development Council members and the generosity of many area businesses, community members and members of the Tyrone Hospital family.”
Miles said all of the funds raised via the golf tournament as well as other funds the council raises this year will be used to purchase a teleradiology system for Tyrone Hospital at a cost of $30,000.
“The teleradiology system will allow the hospital to transmit digital diagnostic images, such as CT scans and MRI images, to physicians via the internet. This will give the hospital greater access to physicians who can interpret test results and also provide patient test results more quickly during evening and weekend hours.”
Each year the Development Council identifies a piece of capital equipment needed by the hospital and conducts several fundraisers to help purchase that item.
Miles said the funds raised the golf tournament put the Development council about half-way to achieving this year’s fundraising goal.
Miles said the Development Council has two additional fundraisers coming up almost immediately. There is a book fair scheduled for October 10, and the Council’s annual Tree of Light campaign that runs from October through December.
