Tyrone’s youth will be treated to free rides and slides at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park on Tyrone Community Day on Friday, Aug. 5, and The Daily Herald is looking forward to being a part of the event this year.
All students and 2005 graduates from the Tyrone Area School District and St. Matthew’s School can enjoy free ride and slide passes, sponsored by Albemarle Corporation. The passes will be available at the red and white tent adjacent to Murf’s Kitchen, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Valid student identification is required.
The Daily Herald and other participating sponsors will have booths at this year’s event, which will be located in Shed No. 2. Be sure to stop by the Herald’s booth to say hello and pick up a free copy of the newspaper and a special flyer. Copies of some of the paper’s recent tabs will also be available.
A free championship golf tournament for all Tyrone and St. Matthew’s School students will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Chicken barbecue will be served for lunch and dinner. For lunch, dine in or take out from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dinner is dine in only from 4:30-6 p.m. Tickets for the event are available at the park, the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce and The Daily Herald. When buying tickets, individuals must specify whether they want lunch or dinner. Delivery orders for lunch only are available by calling the park. Minimum delivery is five. Deadline to purchase tickets or order delivery is July 29. The park’s phone number is 684-3538.
DelGrosso’s recently announced a limited amount of chicken barbecue meals will be available on a first come, first serve basis during dinner hours at the park on Aug. 5 for those who have not purchased tickets in advance.
An evening auction will feature a baseball hat signed by Jason Kendall, a weekend get-away, a Joe Paterno autographed football, an authentic arrowhead, all-day ride passes for DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, Daily Herald subscriptions and more.
In addition to the Daily Herald, other sponsors of this year’s event include: TACO, WTRN Radio, Epworth Manor, Tyrone Women’s Club, Tyrone Kiwanis, Tyrone Chamber of Commerce, Tyrone Rotary, Tyrone Area Historical Society, Tyrone Community Partnership, Joshua House and Tyrone Borough.
