Blair County Magazine is a new feature coming out in September. Tyrone has been chosen to be the first community in Blair County to be featured in the publication.
Publisher, Jim Baldwin, and sales representative, Jarrod Deavor, approached Tammy Datris of JJAN Financial recently and asked if she could help provide the magazine with two to five pages of articles along with 10 photos of the Tyrone area.
Mayor Patricia Stoner agreed to provide the text while The Daily Herald agreed to provide the photos.
Datris said the Blair County Magazine will be a primary resource for those who want to know and enjoy life in Blair County. It will be published six times a year, and the magazine will have a circulation of 10,000, primarily in Blair County.
She said it will contribute a portion of all advertising sales to the Youth Outreach of America which operates the Youth Outreach Center in downtown Altoona where families and children participate in community-based activities.
Datris added the magazine will be a bi-monthly publication that focuses on local issues, people, sports, places, business, events and community affairs.
“It will spotlight different areas of Blair County nestled amidst the beautiful Allegheny Mountains and the rich heritage found here,” added Datris.
If anyone is interested in learning more about the magazine, they may call Jarrod Deavor at 937-2818.
