Republican James I. Burket has announced his candidacy for a six-year term as Snyder Township supervisor.
Burket has lived in Snyder Township for 23 years and is the son of Ralph (Sonny) Burket and the late Betty M. Burket.
He has two sisters, and he married Gail Diehl in August 1981 and started a family. He has a daughter, Nichole, and two sons, Justin and Drew. With his oldest son, Burket is running a business in Snyder Township called Burket’s Auto Repair.
Burket graduated from Tyrone Area High School in 1978 and started working at Harpster Chevrolet in 1977, which shut down in 1980. He then started working for Penn State University where he worked his way up the ranks. He started out washing dishes and now has the title Director of Facilities.
Besides working for PSU, he runs the home business of Burket’s Auto Repair and attends township meetings. He also participates in “Day of Caring” and coordinates the blood drive at his job.
“I would like the opportunity to serve you and the community as township supervisor,” he said. “I believe if you give me this opportunity you will agree it is the right choice.”
