The Tyrone-Snyder Township Public Library has announced its big annual “fun” raising concert scheduled for Saturday, April 16 at the Tyrone High School auditorium.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m.
“All of the monies raised will go toward paying the annual mortgage on the new Tyrone-Snyder Public Library located at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 10th Street in downtown Tyrone,” said Chuck Banas, concert chairman and organizer.
This year, the concert will bring four different types of acts to the high school stage. Opening up the show will be 16-year-old singing sensation Greta Shepardson.
“We are happy to let everyone know that we are going to be able to bring some additional young and up and coming talent to the Tyrone High School auditorium stage,” said Banas. “In order to benefit the new Tyrone-Snyder Public Library, Greta has agreed to appear on stage for us Saturday evening, April 16.”
Greta is a sophomore at Peters Township High School located outside of Pittsburgh. Her interests include singing, tennis and softball. She is also involved in her local church as a member of the church worship band.
Greta recently won a Pittsburgh area competition in Washington County called “Wake Up Your Dreams”. She won a $1,000 scholarship from this county-wide competition and an opportunity to record a demo CD in West Hills Studio.
“I really enjoy the competition and singing as often as I can,” she said. “I love being in the studio.”
She is also recording in RD Studios in Canonsburg.
Greta will be appearing with Kelsey Wilson and the Foxtrot Dancers, Barry St. Ives and the legendary group The Platters for this year’s concert for the library.
“We are looking for this concert to attract another very large and supportive crowd,” Banas added. “The last library concert was also very well received with over 800 in attendance.”
Tickets for the concert go on sale today and will be available up to show time the evening of April 16.
Prices are $30 per ticket, again with all the proceeds going toward the mortgage payment for the new library. All seats are reserved seating. All tickets are on a first come first serve basis. Also, there is plenty of free parking at the high school.
Tickets will be available at the following ticket sale outlets: Healthy Alternatives, Bressler’s Food Mart and Sports, Kopp Drugs, Joybeans and The Tyrone-Snyder Public Library. In the Altoona area, tickets may be purchased at the Altoona Public Library.
Concert information as well as tickets may also be obtained via telephone by calling 684-7929 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
More information about the concert and the performers will be featured in upcoming editions of The Daily Herald.
