For over fifty years the world has watched the problems of everyday life reflected in a comic strip created by Charles Schulz.
His characters Snoopy, Lucy, Schroeder, Linus, Sally and Charlie Brown have mirrored the good, the bad, the sad and the happy realities of what it means to be human. Everyone has been crabby like Lucy or wishy-washy like Charlie Brown. Everyone has had artistic dreams like Schroeder and fantasies like Snoopy.
Charles Schulz’s popular comic strip, Peanuts, leaps to the Tyrone Area School District’s stage in this charming musical, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. This musical captures the events of a day in the life of the “Peanuts” gang.
The Tyrone Area School District invites everyone to join Charlie Brown, played by senior, Doug Conrad; Snoopy, played by junior, Jordan Campbell; Lucy, played by senior, Alicia Rodriguez; Linus, played by junior, Evan Kost; Schroeder, played by freshman, Jonathan Harris and Sally, played by freshman, Stevie Woodring, as they address many of life’s most puzzling questions; such as, “Why doesn’t the pretty red-headed girl notice me?” and “What is the best way to fly a kite?” and “What is it that truly makes me happy?”
Also, in the TASD production there will be a musical chorus of approximately 30 students, who will not only sing and dance, but will also be a huge part of the technical aspects of the musical.
Karen Volpe will serve as director; Ed Kuhstos will be technical director and TASD’s fine arts department chair Cathy Young will serve as musical director.
Simplicity, innocence and happiness are at the heart of this story, which Tyrone Area School District will bring to the stage on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9 beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night.
Calling 684-4240, extension 3700, allows individuals to purchase tickets to either performance.
You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown has enjoyed a multitude of productions worldwide since its inception off-Broadway in 1967, most recently celebrating a Tony Award-winning revival on Broadway.
