Recently, it was announced that more than $2,000 has been given to date for the “Time of Love and Sharing” fund raising effort to aid the victims of the disastrous tsunamis.
Pastor TM Talbot-Moses, who is spearheading the community-wide effort, announced that a total of $2,300 has been given since the campaign was announced just over a week ago.
“That shows the generous spirit of our community as we raise funds to help those who have suffered so much,” said Talbot-Moses.
The campaign, which will continue through Valentine’s Day has been set up in response to nationwide appeals to raise monies for those who have suffered through the terrible devastation.
Pastor TM explained that a special account has been established at Omega Bank, on Logan Ave., that is specifically for relief efforts. Individuals do not have to worry whether or not their money will actually go to tsunami victims. Anyone who wishes to donate can make checks payable to Omega Bank with a notation of “Tsunami Relief” on the memo line. The checks can either be taken directly to the bank or mailed to 1402 Logan Avenue, Tyrone. Donations may also be mailed c/o First English Lutheran Church, 17 W. 13 Street, Tyrone.
“While we can’t be there to help, we will be providing tremendous help through our contributions. Our donations will enable relief organizations like the American Red Cross to purchase and provide those items most desperately needed by tsunami victims.” said Talbot-Moses. “It also is most important that we remember the victims, their loved ones and the relief workers in our prayers.”
Rev. TerryAnn Talbot-Moses of the First English Lutheran Church has launched this tsunami fund raising effort in Tyrone to help the victims of the December tragedy. Individuals are now able to share monetary donations with the victims of the devastating tsunami. Donations to the tsunami victims fund, known as “Time of Love and Sharing,” can be made until February 14.
Anyone with questions regarding the fund raising event can contact Rev. Talbot-Moses at 684-1430.
