Earlier this month, the Tyrone Area School Board met for its annual reorganization meeting.
Prior to the reorganization meeting, the board held a regular session for old business. During that portion of the meeting, three members of the board were recognized.
Raymond W. Detwiler was recognized for completing four basic courses in the Pennsylvania School Boards Association’s voluntary comprehensive training program known as the School Board Academy.
The courses included, “The Three Rs: Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships; School Law; Budget and Finance and Effective Meetings.”
Detwiler received a certificate of achievement.
Peter L. Dutrow and Luther J. Laird received a boardmanship pin in recognition of each obtaining 48 credits in the PSBA’s program. The association’s academy program includes a variety of elective courses covering current educational, governance, legal and management issues.
After the regular old business meeting, the board convened its annual reorganization meeting.
During that meeting, Reverend Norman Huff assumed the position of temporary president of the board. Lee Stover was reelected by the board to continuing serving as board president. James Crawford was reelected to serve as board vice-president. After the elections, Stover took control of the meeting again.
It was decided committee appointments for 2005 would be made at a later date.
Board members were also selected to represent the district with the PSBA. Luther Laird was chosen as legislative chairperson, Pete Dutrow was chosen as a representative and Cindy Whitby was chosen as the employee relations contact person.
