It’s official.
Balfurd Inc., a commercial laundry service provider, has moved into it’s new facility at the Ardie J. Dillen Industrial Park in Antis Township.
The company had used State College for its base for production facilities and offices until deciding to relocate to Blair County.
Balfurd’s president Bob Fogelsanger said the company received a permanent occupancy permit from the state’s Department of Labor & Industry last Friday. He said the company had previously been granted a temporary occupancy permit and had been moving into the facility during the month of December.
Balfurd had purchased a 30,000-square-foot building in the industrial park and received approval to construct a 13,000-plus-square-foot addition from Antis Township supervisors earlier this year.
In addition to the expansion of the building, the creation of a dock canopy for its trucks, a parking lot and an access road were also included as part of the relocation.
Fogelsanger said the company currently has 48 employees with the vast majority (43) transferring from the State College. The production facility there has been closed with the completion of the transfer of equipment and employees and the start of production in Antis Township.
However, Balfurd Inc. will continue to operate a retail outlet in State College. Fogelsanger said dry cleaning and pressing operations will also continue there.
A grand opening had been scheduled for this week, but Fogelsanger said the company has decided to hold the event sometime after the holidays in January.
The company’s new address is 3 Park Ave, Tipton and the new phone number is 684-3710.
