Tyrone Area Community Organization is getting into the holiday spirit by volunteering to collect canned goods during the annual Christmas parade scheduled for tomorrow evening.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m., and at that time TACO will be participating in the parade lineup, collecting canned goods and other nonperishable foods such as cake mixes, spaghetti, peanut butter and more for the Tyrone Salvation Army.
TACO will be accompanied by volunteers from the Tyrone Armory, and the participants will use a humvee to collect the canned goods.
Volunteers at the Armory have agreed to then store all the canned goods and other nonperishable food items collected during the parade at their building because the Salvation Army does not have space to do so.
Directly after the parade in the Armory, community members are encouraged to visit with Santa for hot chocolate provided and served by Joshua House, cookies provided by Women’s Club of Tyrone, and the Rotary Club of Tyrone will announce the parade float winners. The Victorian Christmas committee will have the Santa House, train display, decorated trees and much more for everyone’s enjoyment.
Upcoming plans for TACO include hosting a spaghetti supper which is scheduled for December 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Armory. The supper will benefit TACO’s many community activities that are held throughout the year.
Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for children five to 12-years-old, and children under five eat free. The menu for the supper includes: spaghetti, apple sauce, meatballs, dessert, Italian bread and drink.
For tickets, call Ruth, Christi or Buddy at 684-3386 or Dave at 684-1592.
Members of TACO hold numerous events for the area, including the Radio Auction, Fish Rodeo, Boss of the Year Award, Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween Parade, to name a few.
Upcoming for TACO includes the annual Radio Auction scheduled for February 12-13.
