Even though the Halloween parade was just last evening, it’s time to start thinking about the holiday season!
Tyrone’s first annual Victorian Christmas Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, December 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Tyrone Community Partnership, the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce and the Tyrone Merchants Association have come together to plan Tyrone’s first annual Victorian Christmas.
Their goal is to include local merchants, civic groups, churches and other organizations to sponsor or provide visitors with a wonderful holiday experience. Visitors will enjoy holiday shopping, fun-filled activities for children and adults, a variety of food selections and live entertainment.
Some of the exciting activities that are planned include a train ride from Bellefonte to Tyrone, an old-fashioned lantern display at Rail Park, a Victorian Craft Show at the Social Center, visits from Santa at the Armory, a train display and decorated Christmas tree display at the Armory, an art display and activities in the library, carriage rides by the Hersheys and a Victorian breakfast with Santa at Tyrone Colonial Courtyard.
Also, a live nativity, merchant window displays, strolling carolers in Victorian dress, children’s activities and crafts at the Armory, cookie decorating and gingerbread houses at Burley’s, food vendors, and live entertainment.
The Sinking Valley Grange will also have homemade bean soup, and there will be an old fashioned door-decorating contest as well as a Victorian tree lighting and parade. There will be wood carvings, a soup sampling contest, high tea at the Episcopal Church and much more to follow. Keep watching for more details.
Everyone involved in the planning of this event is excited about the Victorian Christmas celebration and hopes that everyone else is too.
The holiday activities are scheduled to begin Thursday, December 2 with the Christmas parade and the annual soup tasting contest, which will lead right into the Victorian Christmas celebration scheduled for Saturday, December 4.
