The Blair County Genealogical Society of Hollidaysburg presents guest speaker, Dr. David Valuska on Thursday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Dr. David Valuska will present a program on Pennsylvania Dutch and the Hessian Soldiers in the Revolutionary War.
Dr. Valuska is the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University and a Professor of History. He is currently the Commonwealth Speaker for the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and Freyberger Professor in Pennsylvania German studies at Kutztown.
Special positions held by Dr. Valuska include Advisory Board Member for the Pennsylvania German Society; Board Member of the Pennsylvania Dutch Folk Culture Society; member of the National Regiment First Federal Division Headquarters Staff and President of the First Defenders Civil War Round Table.
Having done extensive research in both Germany and America on the topic of the Pennsylvania Dutch, Dr. Valuska is currently researching the Pennsylvania Germans in the American Revolutionary War.
For history enthusiasts or individuals interested in conducting genealogical research, this program could be of value. It is open to the public, free of charge and a presentation of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
No registration for this event is needed, so spend the evening exploring the Pennsylvania Dutch and Hessian Soldiers in the Revolutionary War.
