A two-vehicle accident left two men hospitalized after their vehicles collided on State Route 220 in Taylor Township, Centre County on Friday afternoon at 1:30.
A vehicle operated by an unidentified man from West Virginia was traveling north bound on 220, when for unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed the center line. The car struck a south bound vehicle operated by Allen Harper of Altoona. Harper had attempted to prevent the collision but was unable to avoid the impact.
The West Virginia man suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Altoona Trauma Center by Bellwood Ambulance. He was wearing his seat belt, according to Philipsburg state police.
Harper suffered severe injuries and was taken to Altoona Trauma Center by helicopter. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.
Both vehicles suffered severe damage.
The accident took place between Fowler Hollow Road and Bell Hollow Road. Parts of Route 220 were closed for about 45 minutes.
