The music of Ireland and the sound of gospel are this week\’s concert options for area residents.
The Intown Tuesday series continues at Epworth Manor tomorrow with the gospel music of William Glunt. A minister in Tyrone for over a decade, Bill Glunt presents a mixture of traditional gospel favorites as well as original songs. Bill has recorded two CDs, Blessed Assurance and The Untimely Death of Mrs. Johnson and is currently working on a Christmas collection.
The Tuesday concert begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the air-conditioned lobby of Epworth Manor on Washington Avenue.
Reservoir Park will be transformed into a bit of Ireland when Cormorant\’s Fancy performs as part of the Summer Sunday series. Originating in Gettysburg, this seven piece Irish band specializes in playing the music of the British Isles, including jigs and reels, slow airs, and hard-driving melodies.
Band members play a variety of traditional instruments as well as providing vocal harmonies. Beth Folkemer performs on the guitar, keyboard and dulcimer, Stephen Folkemer will be featured on the concertina, Margaret Folkemer adds keyboard and whistles, and Joel Folkemer plays electric and stand-up bass.
Additional members include Huntingdon native Curtis Rockwell on guitar and mandolin, Andy Rosenfield playing the bodhran and bones, and Dan Diviney on percussion.
The August 1 concert begins at 6 p.m. on the Reservoir Park amphitheater stage and is free of charge. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in St. Matthew Hall.
All concert programs are supported by a grant from the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and Tyrone Borough.
