The Tyrone Hospital Development Council has announced its fund raising project for fiscal year 2004-2005.
Randy Miles, Sr., chairman of the Development Council reported that funds will be raised to purchase new vital signs monitoring equipment for the Short Procedure Unit (SPU) at Tyrone Hospital.
The hospital’s short procedure unit provides care for outpatient surgical patients before they enter the operating room and after they leave the recovery room. The equipment the Development Council plans to purchase monitors a patient’s blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation.
“The nurses use the vital signs monitoring equipment with each and every patient that receives care on the short procedure unit,” said Miles. “A patient’s vital signs are monitored when they are admitted and then every half hour from the time they leave the operating room until they are discharged from the hospital.”
Miles said the Development Council will donate all of the funds it raises this year towards the purchase of the vital signs monitoring equipment. The cost for each vital signs monitoring unit is $4,500.
“We are pleased to be supporting the short procedure unit this year,” added Miles.
The mission of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council is to support the healing mission of Tyrone Hospital. Since the inception of the Development Council nearly four years ago, the Council has purchased intravenous pumps for the medical surgical unit, contributed dollars to assist in the purchase of the new CT scanner, and purchased an infant resuscitation bed and other equipment for the obstetrics unit.
The Tyrone Hospital Development Council conducts several fund raisers each year including a golf tournament, two book fairs, a tree of light event, a hoagie sale, and a shoe sale.
The Tyrone Hospital Development Council’s current fund raiser is its Fourth Annual Golf Tournament sponsored by DelGrosso’s Amusement Park and DelGrosso Foods. The tournament will be held August 25 at Sinking Valley Country Club.
The council is currently recruiting golfers and additional sponsors for the tournament. For more information about Tyrone Hospital Development Council, its upcoming golf tournament or other fund raisers, contact Miles at 684-7603.
