Members of the Bellwood-Antis School Board finance committee: John Shaffer, Jr., Dennis Minori, Jeff Plummer, and Dave Worthing presented the board with the final budget report for approval during the meeting that was held on June 8.
The final budget plan includes: real estate millage, remaining at 86 mills per one dollar of assessed valuation or $8.60 per $100 of assessed valuation; adoption of budgets, the network support agreement, and the award for general supply bids.
Taxes under the Local Tax Enabling Act 511 for Bellwood-Antis School District will be reenacted for the 2004-05 fiscal year.
This includes: the earned income tax at one-half of one percent, real estate transfer tax at one-half of one percent, occupational privilege tax at five dollars per taxable; occupational flat tax at ten dollars per taxable and mechanical device flat tax at various assessments.
Also, committee chairperson, John Shaffer, Jr. made a motion that tax under Section 679 of the Pennsylvania Public Code be reenacted for the 2004-05 fiscal year as follows: per capita tax at five dollars per taxable.
The board passed the budget for the 2004-05 school year, including: general fund , $13,885,235; athletic, $188,935; cafeteria, $ 537,444; capital reserve, $2,044,453 and capital project, $425,000.
The board also moved to approve a network support agreement with PC Works Plus beginning July 1 for 24 hours per week, at an hourly rate of $45.60 per hour, with a total cost not to exceed $56,908.80.
As specified, for general supplies, custodial supplies, art supplies and instructional equipment in the amount of $61,216.45 for the 2004-05 school year will be awarded.
Other items of discussion included the new drug testing policy.
“We are planning on testing the entire student body,” stated principal Michael R. Sakash. “We will release the proposed policy once the solicitor reviews the policy.”
