Tomorrow is the scheduled Tyrone Elks annual youth recognition banquet, and this year Ed Dechellis, Penn State University men’s basketball coach, is the special guest speaker.
It is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Tyrone Elks. Corporate sponsors include: DelGrosso’s Park, Josten’s and The Hancock Group.
The banquet is coordinated each year by Elks members Steve Lucas and Gary McGovern.
According to McGovern, the banquet is a time to showcase the outstanding youth in the areas of sports, academics, community involvement, drug awareness, scouting, teenagers of the month as well as a night to recognize their accomplishments along with family and community members.
Dechellis joins a long list of guest speakers that have participated in past banquets, including Miss Pennsylvania, former major league baseball players Sid Bream and Chuck Tanner, federal judge Brooks Smith, TV personality Kellie Goodman and Penn State coach Rene Portland, just to name a few.
