The Tyrone Area YMCA has recently announced two programs for spring: roller hockey and girls basketball.
Registration is scheduled to begin April 12 and end May 14 for roller hockey. Games are scheduled to be played Saturdays, starting June 19 through August 21 at the Bellwood Community Park.
Those who may participate include boys and girls in third through sixth grades. Participants will be placed together in a third and fourth grade division and a fifth and sixth grade division. Teams will be drafted by the coaches.
Participants must provide their own roller blades, knee pads and elbow pads. The Tyrone YMCA will provide helmets, gloves, and hockey sticks. If participants have their own equipment, they are encouraged to use it.
Fees for the program are $28 for a Tyrone YMCA member and $43 for an non-member. A family discount of $10 off after the first child in the family is registered will be available.
Volunteer coaches are also needed for the roller hockey teams. If anyone is interested, contact the YMCA.
Also, registration for the girls spring basketball league has been scheduled through April 16. The purpose of the league is to develop necessary basketball skills.
Those who may participate include girls in third through sixth grades. Games are scheduled to begin May 8 and run on Saturdays through June 26.
Practice may begin after the April 20 draft. Times will be made available to coaches at the draft.
