The Logan Town Centre will be the location for a new Home Depot in Blair County.
A major news conference was scheduled this afternoon in Altoona to make the official announcement according to a release from Morris Management.
Word of the announcement also came in a release from Congressman Bill Shuster’s office.
The legislator is one of those who was on hand for the event.
“I am excited about the prospect of Home Depot coming to the Logan Town Centre,” said Shuster. “Home Depot has a history of bringing quality jobs to communities across the country. HomeDepot is a well respected company that is going to be a critical anchor to the Logan Town Centre.”
The proposed store will employ about 150 people with 65 percent as full-time employees.
Hourly wages range from seven to 21 dollars an hour according to a release from Congressman Shuster’s office.
Logan Town Centre is scheduled to open in late January of 2005.
Home Depot’s nearest locations are in Johnstown and Greensburg.
A Home Depot in Uniontown, Fayette County was one of more than 50 Home Depot or Expo Design Center Stores which opened in the first two months of 2004.
According to its web site Home Depot was founded in Atlanta, GA in 1978 and is now the world’s largest home improvement retailer. It operates more than 1,500 stores in North America.
Information posted on the company’s internet site indicated Home Depot stores stock up to 35,000 different kinds of building materials and lawn and garden products.
The stores also offer unique services include free in-store clinics for honing home improvement skills as well as design and decorating consultation, truck and tool rental, home delivery, free potting and many others.
