Sinking Valley Grangers met on Thursday, February 19 for a pork and sauerkraut dinner followed by a meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Master Bud Lepperd initiated three new members: Kim Pellas, Ronald Holley and Martha White.
Lecturer Elizabeth Deihl presented a program on the history of the Sinking Valley Grange.
According to Deihl, the first meeting of the Grange was held at the Ephiam Burket homestead on February 24, 1875 with 20 charter members present.
The Sinking Valley Grange hall was built in 1928, and the first meeting held there was on January 2, 1930. Dedication of the hall was held two months later on March 4, 1930 with 260 people attending the ceremony.
Presently, the Grangers meet on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
Also, at the meeting, a reading of the poem titled, “Snow Storm” was read by Rita Yeckley.
The lecturer closed the program with a scavenger hunt list for the next meeting, which is scheduled for March 18.
Prizes will be given out for the scavenger hunt.
