If you ever lived in Tyrone, there’s one business you’ll probably never forget.
It started here back on Oct. 23, 1923 and has been a family-owned business ever since.
Give up?
Fink Brothers Supply is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, kicking off the celebration next week with an anniversary sale which will include an opportunity for one lucky winner to take home a free DeWalt drill.
The celebration will begin Monday and run through Jan. 17. Big sales, with up to 50 percent on some items, are planned as are light refreshments. The drawing for the drill will occur on Thursday and those interested are encouraged to walk in and sign-up. A cake commemorating this special year will be served on Jan. 16.
The business was established by three Fink brothers – Telford N. Fink, John L. Fink and Drove C. Fink. Three generations of family has had a share in making Fink Brothers Supply a successful business.
Although the company has changed ownership over its 80 years, it has always stayed in the family. It was originally established by the three Fink Brothers in 1923. In 1970, C. Donald Fink, the son of Droze C. Fink, purchased the business. Fink Brothers Supply was incorporated in 1996, and is currently owned and operated by three Fink brothers – Wayne L. Fink Sr., Matthew Fink and Stacey A. Fink.
As technology changed, Fink Brothers have kept up with those changes. In the late 80s, they purchased a Triad computer system to help make paint to match practically anything a customer would want.
Fink Brothers Supply has also expanded its inventory and areas of interest over the past 80 years. In the early years, the focus was on hardware, sporting goods, wallpaper, glass, paint, housewares, tools, etc.
Although it still retain a retail business, its main focus has been on enlarging its commercial/industrial business. In 1988, it became partners with True Value. This has allowed it to become more competitive in pricing, as well as being able to offer its customers a variety of merchandise unavailable from former suppliers.
In March 1997, they became part of the Commercial Supply Network, which is a trademarked division of True Value. This was to enable it to offer products to its commercial customers.
It further expanded its commercial/industrial business in November of 1999 when it became a member of Induserve Supply, which is also a division of True Value. This partnership gives it direct access to a wide variety of products used in industrial businesses, hospitals, schools, housing complexes and more.
It is now able to buy directly from recognized names such as Milwaukee, Dewalt, Kimberly-Clark, Master Lock and more.
In addition, it has partnered with an office supply company. It can get anything from paper to pens, to paper shredders to staplers.
