There is no anticipated tax increase for residents of Antis Township.
The preliminary Antis Township Budget for 2004 was adopted, thus authorizing the proper officials to advertise and display the budget for adoption on December 4, 2003.
The total amount of $1,466,818 did not propose a tax increase.
The breakdown is as follows: $884,743 in the general fund; $247,166 in the state fund; $147,611 in the equipment fund; $10,100 in the fire fund; $12,316 in the fire hydrant rental fund; $143,118 reserved for the sewer and water fund; and $21,764 in the pension fund.
Local taxes include: six mills of Real Estate Tax, with each mill representing $28,000 in revenue; 1/2 percent on earned income tax; 1/2 percent as real estate transfer; $5 per capita tax; $5 occupational privilege tax; and $5 for the flat rate occupational tax.
Proposed real estate comparisons: School tax, 86 mills; and county tax 30 1/2 mills.
The township tax is $60 for every $10,000 of assessed valuation.
Concerned citizens began last night’s Antis Township meeting with a discussion of a dangerous situation for students whose bus stop is located on a sharp curve. Resident Bob Smith will gather information to enable the board of supervisors to help the school district get PENNDOT to study the hazardous condition.
Supervisor Ray Amato presented the Road Report for October, which included the continual picking up of leaves, and that state inspection of compost will be conducted by the beginning of December. Also, a safety training program is slated for Monday, Nov. 10 for township employees.
Solicitor Patrick Finelli requested that an executive session be held to discuss litigation regarding real estate.
Township manager Jeffrey Zeigler presented bids to the supervisors for replacing heaters in the garage area and for carpet cleaning in the offices. The Board approved a $3,257 option for the heater replacement, and awarded the carpet-cleaning job to Dirt Busters for $98.80, which includes re-applying scotchguard after the cleaning process is completed.
The Board approved the planning commission’s minutes of October 2. This included granting a waiver to Ruth Long to combine two lots that will not equal a full acre, thus not complying with a current ordinance; and Bell Tip Acres Sewage Planning module and McElravy Sewage Planning module. These sewage plans will now go to the state Deparment of Environmental Protection for approval. The Board also accepted the Building Permit Report for October from the Ordinance Enforcement Officer.
Under new business, John F. Carothers, CPA, was appointed to audit the township’s financial records for this year. Approval was also given to a proposal from General Code Publishers to update the Antis Township code with new ordinances passed within the past two years.
The Board agreed to release funds to the Bellwood Clubsmen Associaton for $500 to finance the Halloween parade and Children’s Christmas party.
