The Tyrone Borough Code Enforcement officer reports the Mr. and Mrs. William Loner house located at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Fourteenth Street must be repaired or torn down by December.
Tom Lang said yesterday that the dilapidated housing is unsafe for people who are walking on the sidewalk adjacent to the home. Earlier this week, Lang requested Tyrone Police Department Chief Joe Beachem to hang caution tape around the structure. Lang said the sidewalks are “off-limit” to the public until the matter is resolved.
“I just want to caution people to stay away from that area,” said Lang. “There are quite a few boards on the house that I feel are unsafe.”
The matter should be cleared up by Dec. 1. That’s when Lang said The Common Pleas Court of Blair County set the deadline for the Loner’s to either repair the building to meet code specifications, or have it torn down.
Lang said if the Loner’s do not comply with the court order, they could be fined, jailed or both.
