State police in Hollidaysburg reported yesterday that a 44-year-old Tyrone man suffered major injuries during an accident that occurred in Snyder Township.
According to police, Michael J. Daugherty of RD 3 Tyrone, was traveling northbound on state Route 4027 at the Tyrone Mini Storage Sheds when he lost control of his vehicle. His 1989 Nissan truck traveled off the roadway and struck a row of mailboxes along the west berm.
Police said the vehicle then traveled north along the west berm and struck a utility pole head on.
Daugherty was air lifted to Altoona Hospital for treatment of major injuries. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
An investigation into the cause of the mishap is continuing.
